MINI SQUADS
Classes are designed to work on all the skills learnt in the school age classes. A technical focus is aimed in the mini squad levels. Classes range for 30 minutes to 1 hour. All swimmers will be assessed and placed at the appropriate level.
Development is the first of three mini-squad classes on offer. Mini-squad classes cater for swimmers who have successfully demonstrated the completion of the skill outcomes for their age-based programme. Development classes have a student to instructor ratio of 8:1 and are based in the lap pool, running for 30 minutes. At this level, each stroke is looked at with more focus on technical skills. More emphasis is aimed at tumble turns and dives. At the Development level swimmers will swim greater distances within their lesson time.
Performance is the second of three mini-squad classes on offer. Mini-squad classes cater for swimmers who have successfully demonstrated the completion of the skill outcomes for their age-based programme. Performance classes have a student to instructor ratio of 10:1 and are based in the lap pool, running for 45 minutes. At this level, each stroke is looked at with more focus on mastering the technical skills. Performance swimmers start focusing on fitness and are introduced into more race skills; mastering their dives, tumbles turns, and touch turns. At the Performance level swimmers will increase the distances they are able to swim.
Elite is the third of three mini-squad classes on offer and the final swim school class. Mini-squad classes cater for swimmers who have successfully demonstrated the completion of the skill outcomes for their age-based programme. Elite classes have a student to instructor ratio of 10:1 and are based in the lap pool, running for 1 hour. At this level, each stroke is looked at in great detail and mastered. There is a greater focus on race skills and drills as swimmers are prepared to transition into club swimming if they so choose. Elite swimmers increase the distances they swim whilst working on their fitness.
